Review of The Night of the Hunter (1955) by Archie A — 16 Nov 2008
A very strange one. Mitchum's crazy preacher character ranges from truly menacing to utterly incompetent and comical. There is a lot to like here though, especially some of the cinematography as it is stunning and was probably pretty innovative and ground breaking at the time.
The biggest problem though was that the narrative appears to lose it's way at times and is a bit tangent happy, it's sometimes just a bit too weird as well!
