Inarguably, the single best thing about this film is Robert Mitchum. Jesus Christ, his performance in this is incredible. As the Preacher Harry, he displays a balancing of act of pure agression, yet restraint.

Undoubtedly, he is one of the greatest villains in history. The film is a perfect display of both good and evil, yet still taking place realistically. The film has a brilliant story, and flawless acting.

The direction is superb and the score perfectly fits. Though it's a classic Psychological Thriller, it doesn't rely on cheap tricks to display absolute terror; instead taking the approach of taking the audience seriously.

Now, the rating. It's an extremely close call between a 9 or a 10 out of 10. The reason is that I want to judge the film's pace, and it is open to being either a good or negative aspect of the film.

In a way, it feels a bit too fast, but in another sense, it doesn't ever slow down and you never lose track because of too much information. I'll give it a 10.
