Review of The Night of the Hunter (1955) by Xgary X — 27 Mar 2011
Robert mitchum is great in this role as psychotic preacher who marries and murders women for their money. he plays it with a certain quiet creepiness much like his role in "cape fear" 1962.
The film has a lot of sinister and creepy music and visuals too, which create a lot of tension when coupled with mitchum's performance. lillian gish is also really good in her role as the woman not taken in by the preacher.
Definitely not the usual kind of film - this was the first and only film directed by charles laughton.
