Review of The Night of the Hunter (1955) by Carla M — 21 Sep 2012
Terrifying and haunting, The Night of the Hunter has an unmistakable menacing glow that keeps you frozen in horror. For being a film that's 1950's black-and-white, there's not enough colorful words to describe it.
Robert Mitchum, one of the finest actors to ever appear on screen, is chillingly wonderful as the villain Harry Powell. But the real light shines from the classic Hollywood aura of Lillian Gish, forever recollected as the one of the best, early-age cinema stars.
