Review of The Night of the Hunter (1955) by Jette H — 25 May 2008
Saw this movie in the cinema, first time for this type of movie (this type = horrible generalization of, say, '30s to '50s black/white films), and that totally added to my appreciation of it. The type of scenes that, when watching on a tv screen, you know you should appreciate for their artistic value but actually make you giggle over their clumsiness, do work well on the big screen.
This movie has a -although not too dazzling- well-worked out plot, and for the first time I felt a slight sense of fright in the 'scary scenes'. Will definately try to see more classics in the cinema!
