Review of The Night of the Hunter (1955) by Arthur B — 13 Jul 2008
This is such a quirky, scary, and beautiful little gem of a film and Laughton's first and only directorial project. This is one of what I call the "Hansel and Gretel" collection--movies about innocent kids pursued by witches, demons, evil stepparents, or, in this case, demented preachers played by Robert Mitchum with "HATE" and "LOVE" tattooed on their fists.
