Review of The Night of the Hunter (1955) by Kathleen D — 28 Mar 2010
This staggering beautiful and suspenseful film is sadly only available cropped to fullscreen on DVD right now, but it doesn't hinder how amazing it is. The sets alternate between realistic and expressionistic, with detailed or stark cinematography.
Plus there's Mitchum's haunting performance and Lillian Gish with a shot gun.
