Review of The Night of the Hunter (1955) by Richard V — 10 Sep 2010
A true classic. Mitchum has the murdering, philandering 'preacher' is superlative, though the quality of his performance does occasionally feel like he is in a different film. Essentially a slow boiling chase with noir stylings, morality is left to one side as this southern monster charms, threatens and inveigles his way across the country in the search for $10,000.
For fans of cinema, a must, even with the terrifying giant animals on the river sequence.....
