Review of The Night of the Hunter (1955) by Indi V — 30 Jul 2011
90% of this film is tense, thrilling, and perhaps the best Hitchcock film never made by Hitchcock. However, it completely falls apart during the final 10%. It's a shame because robert Mitchum is terrifyingly brilliant and Lillian Gish is also fantastic.
But it's that out of place last 10 minutes that prevent this film from reaching masterpiece level.
