Review of The Night of the Hunter (1955) by Bryce I — 17 Sep 2011
I found that "The Night of the Hunter" is a movie of balance. The black and white format helps to give a stark contrast and artistic quality to the many shadows that are created by the villain played by Robert Mitchum.
In fact, the most terrifying villain is the one that everyone is inclined to believe. Of course, with such an excellent villain, there is a balance maintained in the second half by the kindly savior played by Lillian Gish.
All around, a great film and worth a watch.
