Review of The Night of the Hunter (1955) by Damjan R — 18 Jun 2012
Expertly directed and acted, this curious film to say the least is something to behold. Visually stunning, and coming from a first time director (actor Charles Laughton' only directing gig), the film is a great character study on use and abuse of faith to do good and bad things to other people.
While the plot has some odd rhythm and the occasional hiccup, it can't diminish the film's power of message which is conveyed through great direction and expert acting.
