Review of The Night of the Hunter (1955) by Stephen E — 04 Sep 2012
Excellent cinematography, surreal imagery and a totally memorable performance from Robert Mitchum as the flagitious Reverend Harry Powell are what set "The Night of the Hunter" apart from other films from its time.
Combined with Charles Laughton's remarkably keen direction, these characteristics are what make "The Night of the Hunter" the classic that it is, and even though the film may end on a relatively positive note, it deals with some pretty disturbing material.
Definitely worth a watch.
