Review of The Night Listener (2006) by Craig R — 22 Oct 2007
This very slow-moving "thriller" features Robin Williams back where he belongs these days, in ultra-serious mode, this time as a gay late night dj. In a nutshell, he reaches out to a young kid who's life has been taken from him to distract him from his own personal demons, only to find out that there's more to the kid's family than advertised.
In the interest of keeping the secrets, I'll just say this movie requires patience, and the performances more than bridge the gap between intensity and boredom. Very un-Hollywood considering this cast as well (which is a good thing).
