I was very excited for The Night Before. I love Seth Rogan movies and really enjoyed director Jonathan Levine's last film, 50/50. I also avoided all trailers so I could go in knowing very few of the jokes. Well, unfortunately, I was fairly disappointed by The Night Before. However, it is still a very fun movie!

All of the performances are surprisingly great. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogan and Anthony Mackie have a very believable friendship with incredible chemistry. I really believed that they were all close friends! There are a few celebrity cameos that I enjoyed, but one in particular had me dying of laughter every time he was on screen. I won't reveal who this person is, but you'll know him when you see him.

The story of The Night Before was surprisingly very touching. There were some moments that were more mature than I expected a stoner comedy to be. When it comes down to it, The Night Before is a touching friendship story.

My main issue with the movie is that it just isn't funny enough. Look, I had a number of belly-laughs, but they just weren't consistent. There were periods of five to ten minutes where I just didn't laugh. I feel like if the writing were made funnier, I would have liked the film much more. The humour was very hit-miss.

Overall, The Night Before is a fun Christmas comedy that just isn't as funny as it wants to be. It's worth checking out with your friends on a snowy winter day.

RATING: 6.5/10.
