Review of The Night Before (2015) by Sean G — 15 Feb 2016
Not the movie that trailers made it seem. Director Jonathan Levine doesn't make the juvenile comedies that Rogan is know for and here he once again makes us laugh and feel.
The Night Before isn't as successful as Levine's previous films 50/50 and Warm Bodies at balancing the comedy with emotional content, likely because of 4 script writers including Rogan's writing partner Evan Goldberg who likely brought the over the top juvenile silliness to the festivities.
That is The Night Before's biggest failing, its tone fluctuates too drastically despite being kinda funny and kinda touching.
