The Night Before enters uncommon territory as far as holiday movies are concerned and goes with a 'coming of age/friendship' story mixed with a holiday vibe. This is a film STRICTLY for adults, that kids shouldn't even hope to grow up with - but it's a great one to see, and a great addition to the many classic holiday movies.
The jokes are great, the score has all of those holiday vibes, and the surprises really help cement this down (again) as a new classic.
