Review of The Night Before (2015) by Ryan S — 07 Dec 2016
Seth Rogen has shown us plenty of times now that he LOVES pot. He's still funny, although I'm getting a little exhausted with his formula. I'd like to see him more in serious roles where his character doesn't get high again and again and again and again and again (and he CAN do drama. Just watch him in Funny People or Take This Waltz).
The Night Before is no different from the handful of other Rogen stoner comedies, but flaws aside, I enjoyed it. The movie is sweet enough to get you excited for the holidays and the other leads, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Anthony Mackie, are likable, as always. Best of all, The Night Before cares about its characters, even though the plot doesn't quite know where to go at times.
