Boogie Nights meets 70's detective noir. Script and storytelling are ok at best, but I did enjoy nonetheless thanks to the dark LA underbelly feel and some great performances by Gosling, Crowe and Angourie Rice.
I do feel this was quite overrated though. Same 92% critic score as Boogie Nights is quite laughable.
