Review of The Nice Guys (2016) by Nikos R — 31 Dec 2017
The Nice Guys is a fun throwback action buddy comedy, that works in no small part thanks to Shane Black's assured direction and a fresh original screenplay, that includes lots memorable sequences, witty dialog and high period detail.
The Nice Guys is unconventional, funny, exhilarating and touching. Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling are at their top of their game. Their characters are very well realized, while the duo work wonders off of each other, with often hilarious results.
Young Angourie Rice is a stand-out, due to her authentic, unforced performance of a somewhat adult mannered teenage girl. It's slightly overlong and the mystery could have been more engaging, nevertheless, The Nice Guys is tons of fun.
