Review of The Next Three Days (2010) by James O — 04 Aug 2011
A competent and enjoyable thriller that falls short of the mark becuse I never could suspend disbelief that Russell Crowe was just some ordinary joe schmoe college professor, despite the bumbling way he begin the process of planning the prison break. And I think that should have been the most interesting element of this film, the ordinary man place in extraordinary circimstances. There was a great cameo from Liam Neeson, acting as Crowes advisor on the plan.
The last half an hour zips along at quite a pace as the plan has to be put into action early as Banks is due to be transferred in 3 days. The writer/ director also does a good job of keeping you guessing about Banks' guilt or innocence right until the end of the movie.
