Review of The New World (2005) by Colin O — 27 Aug 2009
I thought this was a good movie after I had seen it the first time, but after I read all the trivia and behind the scenes I thought it was definitely special. Definitely a movie for a Sunday afternoon: slow in pace, and a little slow in storyline, but it really is a beautiful movie with gorgeous shots of the James River area.
One thing that I found disturbing after pondering this movie a bit was the fact that Pocahontas was still doing prayers to 'Mother Earth' even though she converted to Christianity. That was the only historical inaccuracy I could find without studying hard-core.
