Review of The New World (2005) by Isaac R — 06 Jan 2010
An incredibly beautiful movie, The New World, is a true cinematic marvel. The pace was slower and let the characters relationships build and build until the middle crisis attack - the story made me think more of a rumination on life and the choices everyone makes and may regret or rejoice later.
I like the acting, direction, screenplay, and the settings and pacing. People rarely make movies like The New World anymore - if you're a fan of Transformers films or mindlessly stale Hollywood romcoms you won't like The New World - and I hope for more gems like this to be reassessed.
It is definitely a misunderstood masterpiece.
