Review of The New World (2005) by Emma T — 09 Jan 2011
The film is gorgeous to watch, but the narrative which never has a sure footing, keeps us at a distance. Lots of voiceover narration with shots of nature feels profound without being profound. Malick needs to remember that style cannot take the place of substance.
