Review of The New World (2005) by Megan . — 31 Mar 2011
I enjoyed this. It is one of the more unique films I have seen; I have never viewed a film that approached the story this way, in a kind of visual and auditory experience of beautiful imagery and poetry.
The cinematography is just stunning. Beautiful locations and intricate costumes/makeup really set the tone. The attention to detail is present not only in the aformentioned but in the cast chosen for this film, and their unique and genuine performances.
What an incredible cast we see here! A couple of the very best Native actors and actresses are present in this film and it very much adds to the rich experience this film brings. Overall a lot of detail was put into this film and it's all beautiful.
Truly a unique presentation of the John Smith and Pocahontas story.
