Review of The New World (2005) by Linda K — 11 Jul 2013
The movie was like walking through the Louvre or Metropolitan Museum of Art - quiet, serence, at times mesmerizing, sometimes slow, understated, sutle but successful in the retelling of an early legend - a different twist.
Sometimes you need to sit and study a painting before deciding whether it is successful or good or magnificent. I have found myself thinking of the textures, the subtle sounds and the discovery of the 3 people.
Would I want to watch this movie again, immediately - no. But I will watch it again. Beautifully made and directed. Settings and costuming authentic - it was like a trip to Jamestown. I loved the emotional ride and that the story was so gentle.
