Review of The New Guy (2002) by Danny S — 07 May 2008
This film is certainly disjointed. Some storylines go nowhere or never really are resolved. It plays like a bunch of loosely connected skits.
The Film is not without it's charms. It's goofy yet still manages to have a message be true to yourself. it's like a sub-par episode of the simpsons. like when moe takes out a classy girl and gets homer to steal his car for the insurance money. The jokes come fast and furious so if one falls flat on to the next one nd you never really noticed anyway.
I don't know how the director got such a great cast. Speaking of casting. The bizzare thing about this movie is all the cameos boy rock and hip hop stars that come from nowhere but it is entertaining none the less.
Just to make sure who this movie plays for Elisha Dushku has a scene where she models all different types of bikinis there's no nudity but there doesn't need to be and there is another scene of her riding a mechanicl bull slowly. so in spite of it's gross out humor and sex jokes it really is a sweet movie at heart.
I only wish it was longer.
