Review of The New Daughter (2009) by Michael S — 21 May 2010
The premise as read on the back of the DVD was promising. I was expecting a nice, supernatural, suspense thriller.
Too bad, I didn't get that.
Don't get me wrong, there were things I liked. The filming style was effective and artistic- especially the dream sequence, and the sets and scenery were perfect for this sort of thing.
But beyond that, it was slow without actually building up suspense or tension. There were few surprises, or real scares. The story limped along with very little explanation of what was going on until pretty much the end... and by that point you really didn't care.
I kinda wish it had limped into the garbage can.
