Review of The New Daughter (2009) by Ceph J — 06 Jun 2010
When Kevin Costner searches "adolescent daughters" in his computer, we want to shout, "NO! it's a haunted house, take the kids and run." The movie is slow to develop so the audience is ahead of the plot; all we can say at the end is "I told you so.
" The plot is strictly a B movie screen play. Costner is OK here. Everyone else is basically servicing the implausible plot. I can't stand movies that don't have a logic to their madness and the characters are basically stupid.
Eddie Murphy once joked that haunted house movies only take place with white people...I'm sure he'd agree with me that this could only happen to a suburban family.
