Review of The New Daughter (2009) by Aaron J — 21 May 2010
"The New Daughter" is better than a lot of other crap that has recently been coming out. Kevin Kostner stars in this horror film as a father to Louisa, played by Ivan Baquero...yes, the little girl from "Pans Labrynth." Whenever her parents get a divorce, her, her father and her little brother all move to Mercy, South Carolina to escape the city that was Charleston, South Carolina (Which is my hometown!) Obviously she is unhappy with the movie, she has left all of her friends, and everything she knew and worse her mother is gone as well. Whenever her and her little brother go exploring in the fields around their house she stumbles upon something that could be the death of her and her entire family.
This film is interesting, and introduces something kind of original, but still has a rather cliche idea. Ther performances are pretty good, but you can still tell that Ivana Baquero is still a little unexperiened. Overall though, this film is suspensful and just fun to get absorbed into. A pretty decent film.
