Review of The New Daughter (2009) by Christy R — 22 May 2010
A somewhat effective movie of Kevin Costner playing a divorced writer who moves his family to an old house in a small town. On the property of this house is a ritualistic burial mound. His teenage daughter start showing signs of complete change and animals and people start disappearing or dying.
All of this seems attributed to the burial mound. This is a slow building movie with some creepy old fashioned horror, with effects like the something killing people outside the house, but we never get to see it until the very end.
The ending may displease some. Overall this movie sets a decent atmospheric tone of horror.
