Review of The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter (1990) by Jebus C — 09 Jan 2009
The only reason I gave this one star was because...okay, I don't know. It deserves negative five stars for butchering the greatest fictional book I've ever read. The first movie was a good adaptation of the first half of the book.
This movie was a VERY loose adaptation of the second half, and destroyed the entire point of the book. Why is Bastian a jerk for no reason? How does he see the Empress a second time, if every person can only see her once? Why does the amulet make Bastian more like an agnry kid with a genie's powers, and less like a dark hero in the book? No, this movie has no idea what it did.
