Review of The NeverEnding Story (1984) by Larry R — 12 Jan 2010
Being a child this film was up with The Lion King, Star Wars, and Indiana Jones for me as one of the greats. I read a review that said this was a "Timeless Fairy Tale" and I agree completely. Every time I watch this it becomes more and more of an all time classic for me. The story and visuals may be a bit more darker than most parents would like their children to see but it also has a bigger message it is trying to send out. Its a story about hope, believing in yourself, and dealing with the lose of loved ones. Its overall messages is to show you how to grow up but also keeping an imaginative spirit about life itself. The characters are great and charming in their own ways. The kid who played Atreyu (Noah Hathaway) is very good in this film despite being so young as well as the princess in the end. This is a must see for all children from the ages 6 and up.
P.S. I wish I had my own luck dragon.
