Review of The NeverEnding Story (1984) by Ian V — 27 Sep 2011
A main character dies traumatically of depression. The child protagonist deals a bloody death to another character. The villain is an obscure concept. The script references the viewers in a sideways manner.
Is this really a children's movie? If so, it doesn't talk down to its audience, which is mind-blowingly refreshing. Noah Hathaway delivers a strong performance as the lead and Tami Stronach shows a maturity far beyond her years.
