The picture is so dated it's difficult to judge but if you break it down it is a fantastic children's movie. The messages and examples of bravery are broken down on to a child's level. I think more kids should watch this instead of superhero sequels and prequels and reboots.
Given the right director I would trust this to be remade with modern effects. As long as the source material is not overlooked.
