Review of The Net (1995) by Dat M — 25 Dec 2008
I Absolutely love this movie!! For me this was the role that made Sandra Bullock. She seemed believable enough for a computer movie based on real world technology of the day. It also was one of the first glimpses we get of a hyper-changing technological landscape in which all aspects of the technology are used to achieve the end result.
Which in this case is messing up peoples lives pretty badly. So there's a handful of cheesy moments and dialog. The movie still flows and the plot doesn't get thinned by it. It's identity theft to the next level all in the mid 1990's.
Why can't they make great computer movies like they used to. Kevin Mitnik documentaries are stale.
