Review of The Net (1995) by Mikael K — 18 Oct 2009
This flick is totally, idiotically bad and ridiculous, but somehow I like it for some reason that escapes even me. Maybe it's Bullock; she is really awful in this one, but maybe in a somehow sympathetic instead of irritating way.
"The Net" is completely unrealistic in everything it does, but it did play well with our inherent fear of everything new. Internet is such an everyday thing these days that this kind of thriller has lost a lot of effectiveness, but it still in its silly way reminds us how fragile a society running solely with intangible bit data is.
