Review of The Neon Demon (2016) by Allan C — 01 Jan 2017
Some very arty and beautiful shots in this film. The soundtrack is very good. But that is where my praise ends I'm afraid. There are far too many indulgent un-plot related scenes such that the whole thing does not tie together.
It feels like a collection of short films rather than one project. As such I became increasingly bored. If the director could have just let go of some of his pet-project scenes this might have been a pretty decent film.
As it stands, you're safe to skip this, unless you are very keen on very arty collections of uncorrelated scenes. So in short if you really enjoyed Only God Forgives, you'll probably enjoy this more (this is indeed better).
