Review of The Neon Demon (2016) by Zachary B — 22 Jan 2017
The Neon Demon, like many of Refn's films, has a hypnotic quality to it. It's visually striking, features another great score by Cliff Martinez, along with some impressive performances. Despite these qualities, the narrative is meandering too much into self-indulgence to be intriguing, while the experience of watching it tends to be more frustrating than anything else.
