Review of The Negotiator (1998) by Joerg H — 30 Mar 2010
God I really do love this movie. It's one of those guilty pleasures of mine that I actually don't feel all that guilty about. As an action thriller it's decent, featuring a pretty by-the-books but ultimately extremely satisfying redemption story.
But to be honest, what I love most is the humor. There's not an abundance of it, but when it is there it's great. Kevin Spacey fake-yelling at his daughter gets me every time. Not to mention Paul Giamatti, who single-handedly makes the movie worth watching and has the best line ("I'm very disappointed in all of ya'").
Overall, a pretty kick-ass flick that I'm happy to have finally added to my collection.
