Review of The Negotiator (1998) by Ka M — 19 Jul 2010
One of Jackson's better films in a over-active career that inevitably pulls in some bombs like The dreadfully dreadful 'The Spirit'. One of Spacey's better performances as well even though he seems a little mis-cast.
The script seems to have been doctored to make both stars heroes and it just about gets away with it. The story is fresh enough to develop some "wow" factor, but soon gets over-taken by the Hollywood formula.
This is John Q meets Die Hard and is worth sitting down for the 2 hours plus of good ol' mindless action entertainment, although in real life we would have been within the hour. For instance, only stars don't shot when they present themselves to crack sniper marksmen.
