Review of The Navy vs. the Night Monsters (1966) by Treefrog T — 11 Nov 2007
If you see only one movie about killer trees, then make it this one. (Yes! There are others!) Anyway, this poverty row movie gets points alone for the audacity in which they make the scenario a creepy mystery film.
But since the culprit is a bunch of styrofoam trees, the movie is alternately a surreal delight-- a postmodern study of cinematic artifice, as former big-name stars stumble through the cardboard sets wondering what the how they could have gotten to this.
This film is more apocalyptic than we can imagine.
