The other great sports movie. Though Barry Levinson won his directing Oscar for RAIN MAN, he was criminally overlooked for this jewel of a film. Redford plays the aging ballplayer trying to give it one last go.
The film's climactic 9th inning finale is one of those stand up and cheer moments that makes for great cinema. Great period drama, great cast.
