Review of The Natural (1984) by Ken S — 14 Oct 2013
A great baseball movie classic, that gives America's Past-Time a mythic quality, with it's older rookie turning a bum team around to Pennant race contenders, with his magic bat he made out of a tree that was struck by lightning.
It is the kind of movie that reminds me why I love baseball. Redford is good as the mysterious man who starts playing baseball when most are ending their careers, trying to pick up where he left off many years before after being shot by a crazy woman.
While it is about baseball on the surface, it is really about both success and failure in this country, which is really what baseball is about in the end.
