Review of The Nativity Story (2006) by Melody S — 09 Dec 2007
I can only speak as someone who's been brought up with this, though not as a real church-going, god-fearing Christian or anything. If anything, the best I can say of this movie is that it made me want to believe more.
It's a perfect realisation of a beautiful story, it really made me feel like that first shepherd, just so small an insignificant compared to this pure and beautiful thing that happened. Mary's loneliness at the start is just crushing.
If Catherine Hardwicke wasn't one of my favourite directors after Thirteen and Lords of Dogtown, she is now.
