Review of The Nativity Story (2006) by Vasco D — 22 Feb 2009
Not your typical religious film, this actually tells the story from Mary and Joseph's (and a bit of Harod's) point of view. I never really felt close to the characters in nativity plays or Sunday school lessons. But the master storytellers involved have managed to bring out the humanity in the characters without altering the story.
Most Biblical films are either dry or use a lot of creative license to completely change the story.
But don't expect all children to like it. This isn't a cartoon.
