Review of The Nativity Story (2006) by Marty B — 28 Nov 2010
This was a great classic tale of the birth of Jesus. I found the movie very interesting. I am familiar with the story of the birth of Jesus, but this movie gave a beautiful depiction of it. It starts with the first meeting of Mary and Joseph. One of the things that I wasn't aware of is how young Mary was when she was married to Joseph. She was so young that she still had to live with her parents for a full year before she was able to move into her husband house and consummate their vows. She wasn't happy about having a husband chosen for her, but she didn't argue with her parents. They believed that they were doing the best thing for her. Shortly after she was married the Angel Gabrielle came to her and told her that she had been chose to carry the son of God and that she was to name his Jesus. Mary honestly took this news very well. She told her parents who didn't really believe her. She also told her parent what Gabrielle stated about her cousin Elizabeth being pregnant. This was to be a confirmation that what she was told by the angel was true.
Joseph was probably one of the most understanding men in history. He decided to accept the child that Mary was carrying before he even got confirmation that the story she told was true. He loved her from the beginning and as time pasted they grew to love and take care of each other. They had a long journey to Bethlehem, and I loved the part in the movie when she washed his feel because they were bleeding from all the walking. In the end, Jesus, the son of God, was born in a manager among the animals and this started his tale.
