Review of The Nativity Story (2006) by Julianna I — 05 Dec 2012
Give credit where credit is due. It's about the only historically accurate telling I've seen of the Nativity Story. I feel as though it reaches the heart of the real miracle of the birth of Jesus.
Is it perfect? Maybe not. But it has good actors, good cinematography, and a story that's only flaw is that it is very popular as well as loaded religious wise. I got from it, however, what I can't say I've gotten from any other film aimed at the Christian Demographic, and that is a story that tries to accurately portray just what this must have been like based on the biblical and historical evidence we have.
It's a thousand times better than a white-washed cast sitting in a clean little wooden stable, where the characters refuse to do anything but preach at you for 90 minutes.
