I got the book from my mom to be prepared for my Au Pair year and after surviving two years of being a Nanny I still can't say that my experience was anything like that. I am not saying it is not hard to raise other people's kids, but it definitely helps you figuring out your own life.
The movie was nevertheless a bit weird. This whole umbrella-Mary-Poppins thing didn't work for me and the ending was very cheesy with happy endings on all sites.
