Review of The Nanny Diaries (2007) by Victor L — 19 Apr 2012
It's a weird mixture of Mary Poppins, The Girl with the Pearl Earring and Uptown Girls with a contemporary touch. The film has a few laughs that make it unwatchable, however it's instantly forgettable because it doesn't offer anything innovative.
Scarlett Johansson isn't a good actress, she plays the same insipid role in most of her films. Laura Linney deserves better roles than a crazy mom. Paul Giamatti is wasted. Alicia Keys should only sing, she's not good either.
The only rescuable actors from this movie are Chris Evans, who is really charming, and the golden retriever the nanny keeps, that's it.
