Review of The Namesake (2006) by Bryan M — 26 Jan 2009
I was really surprised by this one - I liked it a lot. Meghan put this one in the queue. I hadn't heard of it. The acting was good, particularly the mom and dad. But the story was amazing. It pulled me deep into the movie in the first 10 minutes.
The director left little gaps in the story that weren't big enough to distract, but made it even richer when he went back to fill them in later. The view into the Indian culture was well done (I think) and was really interesting.
